Leon's Hat

I actually finished knitting this hat back in 2011,  but I don’t think I ever posted the pictures!  I knit this hat for my friend’s nephew, Leon, who lives in France!  My friend bought my knitting services for one project at a silent auction – and she got to pick the pattern and the yarn.

Rain Dodging

we had a pretty chill holiday weekend. the weather forecast was pretty dismal, but we managed to avoid most of the heavy showers every time we went out.

it started out with a surprise package to Thor from Daphne with an awesome t-shirt in it - Thor rocked it all weekend.
we did some road riding (50 miles! I almost died. Thor said he's never felt better), some puttering around the house, some thai dinner at our favorite local restaurant, some low-key trail riding plus pancake breakfast with friends, we watched the season 2 finale of Downton Abbey (so good!) - and then yesterday just Thor and I went out to syncline so he could help me work a couple of technical lines that I've struggled with for the past few years. it was great! i rode two out of the three lines for the first time ever! you can see my excited face after clearing one especially long and steep section. it was a treat to be able to head out and just focus on taking as much time as I needed to figure out the lines without having to worry about reaching a destination.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! Today I am thankful for a husband who keeps things fun by making me do spontaneous things - like this past weekend, for example, when we went on a training ride and he decided that a good mid-ride snack would be a cupcake. Here's kind of how the conversation went.

Me: "I'm hungry - I can't make it back!"

Thor: "Well then let's stop here at Piece of Cake and get a cupcake"

Me: "A cupcake isn't a mid-ride snack!!"

Thor: "Why not?"

Me:"Uhhhh..."

Yep - he helps keep things fun. Otherwise I'd be too busy always doing what I 'should' be doing. Thanks Thor!

San Diego

my mom and I flew to San Diego to see Aunt Julie while she was in the hospital - and while we were there we made a lap quilt for her.

it was great being able to go down and support aunt Julie - and I'm glad we were able to bust out a quilt for her in two nights too!

Secret Date Saturday: Go-kart Racing!

Late post - but two weekends ago I planned a secret date to take Thor go karting and we had a blast! Soooo much fun - those little karts can get up to 30mph! we raced for 10 minutes- and my fastest lap was less than .5 seconds behind Thor's fastest lap. so close! next time I'll get him!
