Birthday Highs and Lows

Turns out being sick on your birthday, AND being told you have to stay at work all day anyways (didn't get home until 7!), AND having to cancel fun dinner plans with good friends isn't SO terrible when you have a sweet mom to rescue you for soup at lunch, an amazing husband to make you grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner with gingerale, and plenty of friends and family calling with lovely birthday wishes. thank you everyone! despite the obvious bummer of being sick I still had a pretty great birthday. :)

We're Back!

back in the US! rolling down I-5 towards Portland as we speak. Our trip was great - the mtn biking in BC is savage and awesome - we will definitely be back!

I'll try to get all our pics uploaded and sorted shortly - Thor got some great shots!

Tuna Fishing!!!

Quick post to get these pics up before we leave for Canada.  We went tuna fishing last weekend and it was a BLAST!!!! I forgot how much I love to fish.

peaceful morning in Garibaldi

Thor reeling in the first tuna of the day

We had glorious, sunny weather - T-shirts all day long!

arm wound update!

someone reminded me today that I hadn't put up a single update about my arm wound - so here is a picture! I have a hard knot of scar tissue, but the wound itself is closed up. nice! just in time to head to Canada and scrape something else up!

Meteors & Mountain Biking

last weekend we went to oakridge on a bit of a last minute whim to camp out in the open so we could get up and watch the meteor shower Saturday night. of course we brought our bikes too so we could sneak a few runs in!

it was a blast! plenty of swimming, relaxing, and biking - plus we saw some good meteor action around 4 in the morning.

Drysuit Testing

Two weekends ago it was HOT in Portland and we hit 100 degrees for the first time this summer. fortunately we had the perfect activity for the heat - pack rafting on the Clackamas to test Sheri's awesome new dry suits!! Our friends Brooke, Becky and Josh were also able to join us as well - so that made it doubly fun.

Prepping  everything at the truck.

Stack o' pack rafts!

Full shot of the blue, women's suit

A close up of the sweet, trucker style hats from Alpacka!
The drysuits are AWESOME! the women's come in a bright blue, and the men's are a mossy green.  I was so impressed with how water tight these were, yet simultaneously cool and easy to move in when you're OUT of the water. I can't wait to do a longer trip and really test these!
